Since 1998 Waters Edge Camping Outlet has served as the return center for a major US tent manufacturer. In some cases, returned items were sold through large, national retail store chains that have tents made exclusively for them with private label names. In other cases, we receive tents with recognized brand names that had been sold to smaller regionally-based retailers or individual stores in local communities. As their exclusive return center, the manufacturer directs its wholesale customers to send all camping related returns to our warehouse in Washington, Missouri. During 2002, we received over 12,000 items from numerous retailers located throughout the US.
These items are received into our warehouse on a daily basis. We immediately destroy items with excessive damage. Remaining inventory is separated by style and temporarily stored in our 12,000 square foot warehouse.
Each tent is then individually inspected to determine the reason for return. We suspend each tent on a work platform and make a thorough inspection to make sure all poles, stakes, zippers, clips, loops, etc. are in good working condition. The tent is swept out and cleaned up if necessary. When a problem is found with a tent, expert repairs are made to ensure that upon completion of the repair process, the tent is fully functional and meets the original manufacturer specifications.
"Reconditioned" items may show some minor sign of prior use or repair. We support our product and guarantee that each item is in fully functional condition with all necessary parts for a great camping experience.
When they leave the inspection area, "Reconditioned" tents are ready for shipping. We are proud to say that during 2002, over 95% of all web orders were shipped by the next business day from original receipt.
